2D Pumpkin Shapes Spinners

October 31, 2019 By: Liz

Match these unusual looking pumpkins to their names and numbers of sides. Great for Fall or Halloween-themed learning. Shapes include a triangle, circle, square, rectangle, oval and hexagon.

What 2D shapes can you see? Match the pictures with their names and properties.

What you’ll need

  • Download the 2D pumpkin shapes printable below.
  • Print off either the black and white or colour version
  • Cut out the three circles and assemble them using a brad or split pin.

Match the pumpkin shapes with their names in this free activity.

How to use

  • Turn the three ‘wheels’ to find the correct match.
  • Since all the shapes start with a different letter even early readers can look for the first sound rather than having to read the whole word (note: square and circle start with the same sound although they’re different letters).
  • The inner wheel is to choose the number of sides or vertices (corners).
  • Pairs: One child can choose a picture, word or number – then another child matches the rest of the wheel

Match the pumpkin shapes to their names with these FREE spinners.

Please note

Mathematically a circle has no sides but that can be a difficult concept for young children. Tell them a side must be straight not curved. Therefore it has one line, but not one side.
