Calendars are a wonderful tool for helping kids understand elements of time – and for helping count off days to special events! These free 2018 monthly calendars have 4 different formats so you can choose what suits you best.
And if you’d like editable versions there are links to those below, too!
2018 monthly calendar formats

Why 2 weekly formats?
Some teachers and parents have strong opinions on what day they like the weeks to start, so I create 2 completely separate calendars! You can download the one you prefer below.
Please keep in mind that sometimes it’s difficult to fit all the days in when, for example, day 1 is the last day of the week so day 31 gets pushed off the page. Generally I have been following the tradition of adding that last day to the beginning of the calendar month which can be a little confusing sometimes to children, so for this update I have created a couple of different options for months like this (see the following graphic for one example).
Different national days
Since this calendar is used all over the world it’s created to be as generic as possible. In order to be a bit more adaptable there are additional calendar pages at the end of the ‘special dates’ files for 5 countries/regions.
- United States: Memorial Day, July 4th, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Kwanzaa.
- Australia / New Zealand: Australia Day, Waitangi Day and Anzac Day.
- Canada: Canada Day, Thanksgiving and Remembrance Day.
- United Kingdom: St Georges Day and Guy Fawkes Day.
What can I do with these 2018 monthly calendars?
Readers have found lots of different uses for these calendars. This is what they’re using them for:
- During calendar time in class
- As a behaviour chart
- For remembering visits to specialists such as speech therapists and physiotherapists
- For children to mark their own attendance
- To keep track of which weeks are with mum and which weeks are with dad
- Class reminders to go up on the fridge at home
- Christmas calendar gifts to family – coloured by the kids with special dates written in!
- As a gift to a mentor teacher, with the kids colouring in the pages and writing little notes.

In these editable versions there are 2 small editable boxes placed inside each day. One beside the number with a slightly smaller font. And one for the bottom half of the day with a slightly larger font.
