Our Favourite Things Blog Hop

December 8, 2014 By: Liz

What are your favourite things about December?  Today I’m linking up with 69 bloggers who have all donated one of their favourite things for a super giveaway. Many thanks to Laura from Where the Magic Happens for the inspiration and organisation!

Our favourite things blog hop

My Favourite Teaching Prop: Our puppet, ‘Skittles’

A few years back I took a road trip with 2 of my children up north to Queensland (Australia). On the way we stopped at the Big Banana. Yes – it literally is a big banana. But even more exciting to us than the big yellow fruit we could walk through was a sweet puppet shop. We spent ages in that shop before taking ownership of Skittles (as my kids named her) and she’s become a favourite in my classroom.

She’s not a permanent fixture but pops out at special occasions. She’s like a focus magnet where the kids pay rapt attention to everything she has to say… especially if she’s changed her accent! Here Skittles is having a conversation with my daughter, Maddie, who does a particularly entertaining tough girl Russian accent.

My 2nd favourite thing

My Favourite Holiday Place: the South Coast of New South Wales

As a family we spent 20 years overseas in Malaysia and China. We wanted to give our kids a familiar place in Australia to come back to (besides their grandparent’s house) so for as many Christmases as we could we’d rent a place by the beach where I holidayed as a child. Going from winter in China to summer in Australia for those 3 week periods certainly made us feel good about it. So on Christmas day our tradition now is to have a BBQ at the beach, lazing around, digging holes in the sand, snorkelling and going for a walk in the bush. It’s not a northern hemisphere kind of Christmas but it sure works for us!

My 3rd favourite thingMy Favourite Beauty Shop: Lush

I love walking through a shopping centre and finding Lush by the smell. Honestly, the scents that waft out of that place are amazing! My favourite products are their bath bombs with fizzing citrus or rose oil with petals. There are tons to choose from and everything is stacked (and mostly unpackaged) so you can touch and smell everything. The soaps are wonderful, too!

I also like that their products are handmade, 100% vegetarian and they have been fighting against animal testing for a long time.

They have everything you could need for your face, body, hair, skin… they even have toothpaste!

So my gift to one lucky winner will be a $25 gift voucher to Lush delivered straight to their email box. It can be used to buy online or in the store. Check out Lush’s beautiful products for yourself!
